The Practical One

I’ve been remarkably busy with one thing or the other for the last few months, and for the first time in quite a while I’m heading to a time when my personal to-do list is looking a little more spartan than I’d like. I’ve pretty much always considered myself a fairly lazy sort of person — […]

Maybe it’s an age thing. I’m finding myself becoming more and more interested in sciency-type affairs. Certainly more than I used to. One site I’ve recently become massively interested in is CERN podcast produced by the clever girls and boys of the same.

So I’ve been happily cycling around the buzzing metropolis of London for around a year now, and I can honestly say that it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made in a long, long time. Come rain or shine I’ve been pedaling my cheapo wonderbike across the UK capital, avoiding congestion charges, overcrowded Tube and […]

I love pufferfish. Especially musical ones. This one’s amusingly talented in the brilliant video for the Chemical Brothers’ latest, the Salmon Dance. I could watch that little critter go for hours at a time and not get bored. ..until I , y’know, have to go eat, or something. Then I might stop watching him for a bit…

A quick announcement and an appeal for your help: I have recently been given the fantastic opportunity to run away from the glorious(?) climates of London and participate in a week-long dog sledding trek 300 miles north of the Arctic Circle in Norway. Tomorrow.

Ego!!

Oh, The Internet. Just when I think I’ve seen everything you could possibly offer — you go and surprise me once again. After a prolonged conversation with a chap in a pub that thought I looked like Chris Martin from Coldplay (I don’t) I found this site that will tell you using SCIENCE and FAIRYDUST […]

The Curse of Richard

Richard. A name of royalty. A name of leadership. A name used whenever I’m in trouble and my mum phones me up to tell me off. A name, going by the amount of other Richards that I know, had a mini renaissance between ’78 and ’83. I never had a problem with my name at school […]

Trendy settings

December 4th, 2006

CSS Legend Dan Cederholm has started a trend of forcing a re-design of a site by stripping away his CSS and then re-building his site as-live, for all of us to witness. This is a cracking idea, and has spawned a couple of followers who have taken his lead and done the same.

Algebra was invented long before they had any use for it in physics and computer programming.” This particular pearl of wisdom was bestowed upon me by my Maths teacher many years ago. It was something that I was perfectly prepared to believe, after all, despite being Welsh, he was a teacher and I had no […]
